![]() ![]() In the 1960s, Pastor Holloman played a key role in leading the community through the tumultuous Civil Rights movement. He grew up in Middletown, the son of a community pillar, Baptist minister James Holloman, who successfully merged three churches. He is part coach, motivational speaker, mentor and truthteller. Nope, it's not that simple, but those who have worked with Holloman note that he has a way of making the complicated seem less so. "Sounds pretty simple, but we had not done that, historically," Holloman said. The company adopted a matrix organizational structure, emphasizing greater collaboration within teams. It made sure that once a sales representative closed a deal they linked the customer to the person who might deliver their uniform or replace their floor mat. It listened to the people who wear its uniforms and use its products. It used technology to better help track and retain customers. ![]() The company sought to develop new markets in healthcare, gaming, education and building management. We are going to take aggressive steps to position ourselves to come out of this as a much stronger company than when we went in.' And we accomplished that," Holloman told me this week. We are not going to put out heads in the sand. "Our focus then became 'we are going to come out of this recession stronger as a company that when we went into it. Some traditional blue-collar business, who were among Cintas' most loyal customers, closed entirely. But the Great Recession's reverberating effect in 2009 meant that for the first time in its history, Cintas would fail to grow revenue and profits. He was named the president and chief operating officer February 2008, just as a recession loomed.Ĭintas makes its money by renting uniforms, providing restroom soaps and supplies, and selling first aid kits and fire prevention services. Hired in 1996, Holloman was Cintas' first African-American senior manager. ![]()
